Temu is one of those sites that sneaks up on you. You don’t go looking for Temu—Temu finds you. One second you’re scrolling through TikTok, and the next, you’re knee-deep in a rabbit hole of $2 gadgets and mystery boxes, wondering how a site can sell a fully functional blender for the price of a large iced coffee.
I’ll admit, I got sucked in. The prices? Unbelievably low. The variety? Overwhelming. The quality? Eh… That’s where things get tricky.
I’ve placed three orders on Temu so far, and let me tell you—this site will humble you real quick. Sometimes you hit the jackpot, and sometimes you end up with a “smartwatch” that has the battery life of a dying firefly. If you’re considering trying Temu, let me walk you through my personal experience—the good, the bad, and the why did I do this to myself?
Round 1: Beginner’s Luck
My first order was simple: some jewelry for my daughter. Nothing fancy, just cute little accessories for her to play dress-up with.

And you know what? It was actually great! The jewelry wasn’t falling apart straight out of the package, it looked just like the pictures, and my daughter was thrilled. She played with them, I was happy with the quality, and I thought, Okay, Temu, I see you.
At this point, I was feeling good. Temu had delivered, and I was officially curious.
Round 2: The Shopping Cart of Regret
Feeling bold, I went for a bigger order. This time, I bought:
✔ A mini backpack
✔ A smartwatch
✔ A "J" necklace (for Jordan—me)
And oh boy… this order had me questioning every decision I’ve ever made.
First, the mini backpack. Cute? Yes. Functional? For about two days. The strap ripped faster than my patience when people don’t use their turn signals.
Next, the smartwatch. I had a little hope for this one. The product description made it seem decent, but the reality? This thing held a charge about as well as a water balloon holds a knife. I charged it, put it on, and within two hours, it was dead.
The only thing that survived from this order was my “J” necklace, which, thankfully, did not fall apart. But at that point, my trust in Temu was already hanging by a thread.
I told myself, That’s it. No more. Not again.

Round 3: The Redemption Arc
Fast forward two months, and my son accidentally brought home his classmate’s backpack because they had identical Minecraft ones. Since I wasn’t in the mood to play detective every morning, I figured I’d buy him a name tag keychain.
Amazon was my first stop (because Amazon is still my go-to), but everything I liked was over $10. So, against my better judgment, I reopened Temu. And once again, I somehow ended up with more than I planned to buy.
This time, my cart included:
✔ Name keychains for both my kids
✔ A tarot card case
✔ A locket with my kids’ pictures inside
And honestly? This order redeemed Temu for me.
The name keychains? Exactly what I needed. The tarot case? Super cute and useful. But the locket? Okay, hear me out. The metal is cheap. I can already tell it’s going to change color if I don’t seal it with something. But you know what? I love it.
Because the idea of finding a locket, printing out two tiny pictures, and cutting them to fit sounded like a whole chore. But Temu did it for me. So yes, the quality is questionable, but the sentimental value? Priceless.

Final Verdict: Would I Recommend Temu?
So, is Temu worth it? Yes… with conditions.
If you’re buying something where quality really matters—electronics, bags, things that need to last—I’d say don’t risk it. But if you’re looking for fun, cheap items and don’t mind a bit of a gamble? Go for it!
Personally, I still prefer Amazon. It’s more reliable, and I don’t have to question every purchase. But Temu? Temu is that friend who’s a bad influence but also gets you the best birthday presents. Sometimes they disappoint you, but sometimes they come through with something so unexpectedly good that you just can’t stay mad.
So if you shop on Temu, just go in with low expectations, and you might end up pleasantly surprised.
